Click 'n' Go Sedum Tray System — Pre-Grown Green Roof Trays UK

Sedum roof trays are pre-grown, interlocking modular green roof trays - the fastest sedum roof retrofit on the UK market. Our standard Click 'n' Go sedum tray uses a deeper 100 mm profile with more substrate volume for stronger, longer-lived sedum vegetation, without losing any of the speed or simplicity of a tray-based install. Trays click together directly on a sound waterproof deck - no fixings, no wet trades, no specialist tools. Ideal for single-storey extensions, garages, garden offices and commercial flat roofs that want a fully working sedum green roof without the cost or mess of a loose-substrate blanket build-up.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy sedum trays in the UK?

The Green Roofer supplies pre-grown sedum trays across mainland UK. We're a direct trade and DIY supplier - no middlemen - with nationwide pallet delivery typically in 3–5 working days. Send us your roof area for a fixed supply-only quote.

What's the difference between Light and Standard Click 'n' Go sedum trays?

Light trays are 60 mm deep and weigh ~45 kg/m² saturated - best for weight-restricted decks like sheds and bin stores. Standard trays are 100 mm deep and weigh ~75 kg/m² - they support more vigorous sedum growth and longer drought tolerance, making them the better choice for extensions, garages and commercial roofs that can carry the load.

Can Click 'n' Go sedum trays be laid on an existing felt roof?

Yes. As long as the felt is sound, watertight and free of major blisters, sedum trays sit directly on top - no fixings needed. The interlocking design and the weight of the trays hold them in place. The same applies to EPDM, GRP and single-ply membranes.

Are sedum trays good for DIY green roof installs?

Yes - sedum trays are the most DIY-friendly green roof system on the market. There's no loose substrate to spread, no roll-out blanket and no specialist tools. Most garage and extension roofs under 30 m² are installed in a single afternoon by two people.

Do sedum trays need much maintenance?

Minimal maintenance - pull stray weeds twice a year, clear leaf litter from outlets, and feed once per year with a slow-release green roof fertiliser. Drought-tolerant once established; typically no irrigation needed in UK climates.

Can I get trade pricing on sedum trays?

Yes. Roofing contractors, landscape architects and developers receive trade pricing with volume discounts on orders over 100 m², plus BBA-style data sheets and CAD details on request. Get in touch with your project details for a trade account quote.

About The Green Roofer

The Green Roofer designs, supplies and installs green roofs for homes, developers and commercial buildings across the UK, with strong coverage in Essex, Southend-on-Sea, Chelmsford and London. We work on everything from a single garden shed or extension to large commercial flat roofs. See our residential green roof services or our commercial roofing services.

Our systems include sedum roofs, biodiverse and wildflower roofs, intensive roof gardens, blue roofs for stormwater attenuation and bio-solar roofs that combine planting with solar panels. Smaller projects are welcome too, including a green roof for your shed. We also supply green roof materials UK-wide for trade customers and DIY projects: complete systems such as the certified sedum green roof system, traditional green roof system, biodiverse green roof system and lightweight biodiverse system, plus individual components including sedum mats, wildflower mats, green roof substrate, drainage board, filter fleece, protection fleece and decorative cobbles.

Every project starts with a free site survey and a clear, no-obligation quote. We check roof structure, load capacity, waterproofing and drainage before recommending a system, and we offer ongoing green roof maintenance so the planting stays healthy year after year. Green roofs help manage rainwater, improve insulation, extend the life of the waterproofing beneath them and support biodiversity, including Biodiversity Net Gain requirements on new developments.
