Green Roof Filter Fleece
Filter fleece is a lightweight non-woven geotextile laid between the substrate and the drainage board on every extensive and intensive green roof. It allows water to pass through but holds back the fine silts and organic fines that would otherwise wash into the drainage reservoir and block the flow path to the outlet. We supply 100 to 150 g/m² filter fleece in 2 m wide rolls for nationwide pallet delivery.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need filter fleece on a green roof?
Yes. Without filter fleece between substrate and drainage, fine silts and organic particles wash into the drainage cups within a few seasons and block the flow path to the outlet, leading to ponding and waterlogging.
What is the difference between filter fleece and protection fleece?
Filter fleece is light (around 100 g/m²) and sits between substrate and drainage to stop fines. Protection fleece is much heavier (300 to 500 g/m²) and sits beneath the system to shield the waterproof membrane from point loads.
How much does filter fleece cost?
